Deeside Cereals

This project comprised an extension to an existing mezzanine within an operating factory in Deeside.

Mezzanine was designed as steel structure with composite slab construction. Foundations were shallow pads bearing onto the sand strata below.

Careful consideration was required with regards to some of the existing factory apparatus. The apparatus was to remain in position on the ground floor and the mezzanine structure needed to be designed to bridge over the apparatus.

Once works progressed on site, it was discovered that an unknown existing drain was routed in close proximity to the proposed mezzanine column line. Foundations were therefore revised and redesigned to avoid any detrimental impact to the existing drainage.
