Cwrt Hewan
This development comprises the construction of six new town houses in Penmaemawr, North Wales. All properties will benefit from panoramic views over Colwyn Bay from Anglesey over the Great Orme.
The project involved the structural design of foundations, masonry and steelwork, and the subsequent production of construction detail drawings. The site is located on sloping ground with a clay soil subgrade and number of nearby trees. The buildings’ substructure required careful design and consideration with regards to change in levels across the site and the water demand of the nearby trees.
We looked to utilise a SuDs drainage strategy for the surface water runoff, however due to the site constraints and the clay soil, typical SuDs features and/or infiltration was not possible. The developed scheme therefore utilised an oversized pipe storage strategy combined with a flow control device prior to connecting into the public sewer.
